Whip up a batch of this flavourful salsa and take yourself on a little vacation - bright grapefruit + blood orange colours and flavours highlight perfectly ripe avocados. This is a crowd pleasing snack or a great addition to taco night!
1 large grapefruit (Ruby Red or another sweet variety)
2 medium oranges
2 large avocados or 4 small avocados, diced
½ cup chopped red onion
½ cup chopped fresh cilantro
½ medium jalapeño (finely chopped, seeds removed)
¼ cup lime juice (about 2 limes), more to taste
½ teaspoon fine sea salt, to taste
Optional: Tortilla chips, for serving
Peel the citrus and slice across center lines to make ¼ inch thick rounds. Pull the rounds apart to make little fruit wedges.
Alternative: for less bitterness cut grapefruit in half with the peel still on and scoop out fruit pieces with a spoon.
Prepare avocado, onion, cilantro and jalapeño. Add lime juice and salt. Gently toss to combine and serve fresh with tortilla chips.
