Kick back by the fire with this hot sipper this winter solstice. Enjoy as is or make it spicy by adding a shot of your favourite whiskey or rum!
Serves 4
ingredients
2 cups cranberry juice
2 cups tart cherry (or grape) juice
2 cups pomegranate juice
1 orange, sliced
3 cinnamon sticks
5-8 whole cloves
3-4 allspice berries
3 star anise pods
Freshly grated nutmeg
method
Pour cranberry, cherry and pomegranate juices into a pot and simmer on medium-high heat.
Add the mulling spices, citrus slices, cinnamon, cloves, allspice berries, anise and nutmeg and simmer for another 2 minutes.
Turn heat to low, cover and simmer for 20-30 minutes.
Strain and/or remove orange slices and spices.
Pour into a mug or heat-proof glass.
Add garnish with star anise, orange slice studded with cloves and grated nutmeg and enjoy!
